One-way car hire in Albania starts at Tirana Airport or in Tirana and ends in another city: the car is collected at Tirana's airport pick-up point and handed back where the trip finishes. The booking search lists only cars that accept the drop-off city you choose, and each total already includes that car's one-way charge.
Which cities can I drop a hire car in?
In the search from Tirana, cars come back to Durrës, Golem, Vlorë, Himarë, Sarandë and Ksamil on the coast; to Shkodër and Shëngjin in the north; and to Berat, Gjirokastër, Korçë, Pogradec, Elbasan, Fier, Lushnjë, Krujë and Kukës inland. Fewer cars accept some cities than others, and the list changes with the dates. The routed drive north to Shkodër from the airport takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes.
For the coast south of Vlorë, the drive from Tirana Airport to Sarandë takes about 4 hours and 5 minutes, and Ksamil about 4 hours and 20 minutes, in free-flowing traffic. The drive from Tirana Airport to Vlorë takes about 2 hours and 5 minutes.

It is set per car by the rental company and it differs widely between cars on the same route. The search shows it inside each car's total. Searching the same dates as a same-place rental and as a one-way shows what the drop-off adds for a given car.
Where exactly is the car handed back?
In Vlorë, Shkodër, Himarë and Ksamil the search lists one drop-off option, City delivery, where the car is handed back at an address. Sarandë adds the rental offices, and Durrës adds the rental offices and the Bay of Lalzi. None of these cities has an airport or port drop-off point in the search.

How do I book a one-way hire?
Choose Tirana as the pick-up, with Tirana Airport (TIA) under Specify location, then choose the drop-off city in the Drop-off field and your dates. Pay the advance of 15 to 20% online; the balance goes to the rental company at the pick-up.
Cancellation follows the same rules as any booking: without penalty up to 7 days before the rental (30 days for luxury cars and convertibles), or up to 24 hours before on cars with Free cancellation, less the 6% payment service fee.
What do I check before handing the car back in another city?
The fuel level: it should match the level at pick-up, since a lower level is charged at the rental company's rates. The car should not be so dirty that it cannot be inspected, or it is washed at the renter's cost.
Parking, fines and toll roads along the way are paid by the renter. Standard car hire insurance in Albania does not cover the wheels, undercarriage, windscreen or interior, and after an insured event the rental company must be told at once and a police report obtained.
Can a one-way hire end outside Albania?
The search lists Albanian cities as drop-offs from Tirana. For any trip outside the country, the terms require you to tell the rental company in advance so it can prepare the required documents.
