Where is Tirana Airport, and how far is the drive?

Tirana International Airport, also known as Nënë Tereza, is 17 kilometres outside Tirana by the airport's own figure. Hire cars collected at Tirana International Airport leave on the airport road, Rruga e Aeroportit (SH60), which joins the SH2 motorway between Tirana and Durrës.

The airport has car parks P1, P2 and P3 and an underground car park. The times below are routed from the airport pick-up point and assume free-flowing traffic.

Can I collect at the airport and drop the car somewhere else?

Yes, on the cars that allow it. Cars booked from Tirana come back to Durrës, Sarandë, Vlorë, Shkodër, Berat, Himarë, Gjirokastër, Golem, Ksamil, Korçë and other cities. Choose the drop-off city in the search and the price shown includes any one-way charge for that car.

Durrës also has pick-up places of its own, City delivery and the Bay of Lalzi, so car hire for Durrës can start there instead of at the airport. Shkodër is a drop-off city too, and the drive from Tirana Airport to Shkodër takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes.

What should I check before I book?

How do I pay for a hire car collected at the airport?

Pay an advance of 15 to 20% of the total rental cost when booking. Pay the balance to the rental company when you collect the car.

Your booking email includes the voucher and the rental company's contact details. Contact that company with questions about the car, its condition or the handover.

Keep the phone number provided at booking reachable, with the correct country code, on the day before pick-up and throughout the rental. The rental company must be able to contact you.

Do I need a credit card or a deposit?

Requirements depend on the car. You may need a physical, embossed credit card in the main driver's name. Bring the required card to pick-up.

Some companies accept debit cards, as stated during booking and on your voucher. These must also be physical, embossed cards in the main driver's name.

Each car's deposit is shown before payment. Some cars have no deposit; some accept cash deposits. Use the "No deposit" and "No credit card" filters to find cars that meet those requirements.

Can I cancel a booking?

Cancel without penalty up to 7 days before the rental starts, or 30 days for luxury cars and convertibles. Later cancellations lose the advance payment.

Cars with the Free cancellation option allow cancellation without penalty up to 24 hours before pick-up. After that deadline, the advance payment is kept.

The payment service fee of 6% of the amount paid still applies to cancellations. Missing pick-up without telling the rental company counts as a late cancellation, so the advance is kept.
